2024 Election Harris vs. Trump – Key Challenges & Poll Struggles

The 2024 Election Turn on Who Can Most Credibly Fix Inflation, the Weak Economy, the Border Crisis, Runaway Crime, and the Weaponization of Government

2024 Election Harris vs. Trump – Key Challenges & Poll Struggles \ Newslooks \ Washington \ Opinion \ George landrith \ 2024 presidential election, initially seen as a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, shifted when Biden was pressured to withdraw, leading to Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic nominee. However, her campaign struggles with diminishing poll numbers, partially due to her choice of running mate, Tim Walz, whose controversial policies have hurt her chances. Harris’s tenure as Vice President and her handling of issues like the border crisis, rising crime, and inflation are seen as major weaknesses. Meanwhile, Donald Trump remains a strong contender, bolstered by his previous presidential record, despite his divisive personality.

2024 elections are less than two months away. On the presidential level, we’ve seen a lot of highly unusual developments. For a long time, It looked like it was going to be a 2020 rematch of Joe Biden vs. Donald Trump. As it became clearer and clearer that Donald Trump was likely to win that rematch in a dramatic victory, the Democrats pushed Joe Biden to withdraw from the race under threat of using the 25th Amendment to remove him from office. That opened the door for Kamala Harris to become the Democrat nominee.
Initially, a number of polls suggested that a new match up between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump helped turn around the losing polls for the Democrats. But that bump was short-lived. Normally, a candidate gets a bump in the polls during their convention. But Kamala didn’t. She actually saw her slight lead in the polls diminish. Her pick of an extremist leftist governor, Tim Walz, may have contributed to her weakened support.
Tim Walz, as governor of Minnesota, has presided over record high taxes, record high deficit spending, a rapid and dramatic fall in educational quality, jobs leaving the state, and high crime rates. And he signed a bill that would take children away from their parents if the parents wouldn’t agree to transgender surgery for their child removing their genitals or body parts. And he put tampons in boys bathrooms at schools. So Walz is clearly an out of touch extremist.
Plus, Tim Walz has a major problem with basic honesty and integrity. He’s lied about serving in Afghanistan and serving in war. The stolen valor issue turns off voters in a major way. He also lied numerous times about the rank that he achieved while in the military. He has also repeatedly lied about his arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and being a football head coach — which he never was. His resume is filled with other lies — claiming to have won awards that he did not win throughout his politcal career.
But the truth is Kamala’s biggest problem in winning the White House in November is her own record of failure. As the Vice President, she accomplished virtually nothing positive, but as the border czar, she presided over a border crisis that allowed millions of known illegal border crossings. There have been more than 9.5 million encounters with illegal border crossers nation wide and more than 7.8 million encounters at the Southwest border. Almost 400 of those illegals were on the terrorist watch list. And this only counts the known crossings. There are huge numbers of unknown gotta-ways that are not counted in these numbers.
As a result of Kamala’s failed leadership on the border, we’ve seen the fentanyl crisis grow to a problem that is the equivalent of a large passenger jet crashing and killing all of the passengers every single day.  And we’ve also seen crime rise with children being raped by illegals, and women killed and raped by illegals. So it isn’t just Kamala’s support for defunding the police that has caused violent crime to skyrocket, it is that she helped import tens of thousands of violent criminals through our wide open southern border.
The more voters become aware that Kamala helped wreck San Francisco as its District Attorney, and then helped Gaven Newsome wreck California as the state attorney general causing millions of residents to flee the state, the more they will understand why as the Vice President of the United States she was such a disaster.  This is her track record. She helped create the border crisis, helped violent crime escalate out of control, helped cause inflation to reach historically high levels that have cost American families more than $1,000 each month.  And the economy has been relatively weak with jobs numbers consistently overstating actual economic activity in an attempt to make the weak economy appear better than it in reality is.
And Kamala has bragged about her role in the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal that resulted in the Taliban killing 13 American soldiers and hundreds of people being trapped and hunted down by the Taliban. We also lost a very strategic base close to China, Russia and Iran.  Plus we lost about $80 billion worth of military equipment which the Taliban now has and has given to the Chinese Communist Party for reverse engineering.
And then she has as part of her campaign repeatedly promised on day one to fix the border, the economy, inflation, crime and other problems — all problems that she helped create and exacerbate and forgetting that she’s been elected and serving as the Vice President for more than 1,312 days. So how does she claim to fix things on day one?
So it is no surprise that her numbers have been declining ever since the initial bump she got when voters were relieved that Joe Biden wouldn’t be on the ballot. But voters are coming to the conclusion that Kamala will be no better than Joe and in some ways even worse.
People know Donald Trump as he was president for four years already.  Many don’t like his personality or his tweets. But few can find serious fault with his policies. Aside from the COVID pandemic, he oversaw a strong economy, strong wage growth, strong energy policy, and strong foreign policy that promoted peace and prevented war.
JD Vance adds to the ticket someone who was born into poverty, but rose from abject poverty to serve his country in the war on terror and then went on to obtain a law degree and later was elected to the U.S. Senate. He ought to understand how to help American once again return to being a land of opportunity — especially for those who are poor and in desperate need of opportunity.
To give you an idea of how unpopular Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have become — Tulsi Gabbard, a former democrat congresswoman, and a former vice chair of the Democratic National Committee and a former Democratic Presidential Candidate, has left the Democrat party and endorsed Donald Trump. U.S. Senator Joe Manchin a life long Democrat, left the Democrat party and became an independent. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nephew of President John F. Kennedy and the son, of U.S. Attorney General and Democrat Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy, ran in this election cycle as a democrat, but has now endorsed Donald Trump. Likewise, RFK Jr.’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, a life long democrat, and funder of democrats, has endorsed Donald Trump. But it isn’t just famous democrats who have had enough. In the last year, more than 1 million Americans across 43 states have changed their party voter registration from Democrat to Republican.
So Americans even if they lean towards the Democrat Party, are waking up to the disaster that has been the last 3-1/2 years under Joe and Kamala. Thus, an increasing number of traditional Democrat voters — many of whom are Black and Latino — are abandoning the extremism and the anti-freedom and anti-opportunity agenda of the Democrat Party.
They are seeking for someone who can bring back sound policies, promote prosperity and opportunity, get inflation back to historic lows, and promote peace and security, and who will not weaponize the government against political opponents. Even if they don’t find his past tweets to be to their liking, they cannot afford to put that issue ahead of the practical issues of economic growth, stability and opportunity; and safe streets; and avoiding wars and national security risks; and returning to the rule of law rather than the weaponization of government. The real risk to our constitutional democracy is posed by the far Left.
While there are some Americans who are willing to support a candidate who has a clear track record of wrecking the jurisdictions over which she has had power, most Americans are far more practical than that. Most Americans love their country more than they hate a political personality who has a track record of success for the nation’s wellbeing, but may have tweets or statements that offend them. Most Americans care enough about their future and their children’s future to realize that the extreme left are wrecking America’s economy, making its streets unsafe, destroying our schools, making national and homeland security far more dangerous, and wrecking the legal system and using it to go after political opponents.
So because I believe Americans are generally realistic and practical, I expect Kamala’s support to drop and decline throughout the fall. She’s running from the press and avoiding talking about issues in a substantive way because even she knows that she’s a horrible candidate and cannot run on her track record.
