Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Georgia Town Hall Sparks Arrests, Trump Support, and Political Speculation

Acworth, Georgia (AP)Controversial U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene delivered an unapologetic show of support for former President Donald Trump during a tense town hall Tuesday night, brushing off protests, arrests, and media scrutiny as she reaffirmed her role as one of Trump’s most vocal allies in Congress.

Held in suburban Acworth, the event drew over 150 attendees and heavy police presence, as tensions between protesters and supporters of the Georgia Republican spilled into confrontations. Officers arrested three individuals and escorted several others from the event for disruptive behavior, including two men who were tased by law enforcement.

Despite the chaos, Greene, who represents a staunchly conservative district spanning northwest Georgia, used the town hall as a platform to boost Trump’s policies and attack the Biden administration.

“What am I going to do? I’m going to stand by my president,” Greene declared to enthusiastic applause. “I will fight for his agenda with everything I have in Congress.”

The congresswoman responded to pre-submitted questions printed on slides, many of which reflected strong support for Trump and deep skepticism of Democrats. One asked when “treasonous politicians” might be arrested — a question Greene did not directly answer but seemed to endorse with a smile.

Hostile Questions and Hecklers

The town hall wasn’t without confrontation. At least one protester was physically restrained and tasered by police after shouting at Greene. Others were escorted from the venue, prompting Greene to wave them off with sarcastic “Bye” remarks.

“This is a town hall, not a protest,” Greene said. “There’s a place for those people — outside.”

Dozens of protesters did gather outside the community center, holding signs and chanting, some accusing Greene of unethical behavior related to recent stock trades.

Defending Trump’s Economy and Tariff Policy

Greene addressed multiple questions related to economic policy, specifically tariffs. In contrast to the prevailing economic consensus, she claimed tariffs were not responsible for rising costs, blaming inflation squarely on the Biden administration and Democrats’ spending policies.

“Tariffs are not a massive tax on Americans,” Greene argued. “The real tax is the inflation Biden and the Democrats caused.”

She defended Trump’s approach, saying her supporters were ready to endure short-term pain for long-term gain, echoing Trump’s recent messaging.

“Don’t be a ‘panican’ — that’s a word President Trump came up with,” Greene added. “This crisis was decades in the making.”

Stock Allegations and Denials

Greene was questioned by reporters after the event about allegations she may have improperly benefited from buying stocks shortly before Trump paused tariffs on certain nations. A protester’s sign suggested insider trading.

Greene denied having direct involvement and reiterated that her financial decisions are made by an advisor.

“He did a great job. He bought the dip,” she said. “Anyone with financial sense would do the same.”

Security and Arrests

Acworth police later confirmed the arrest of three individuals:

  • A 40-year-old man from Atlanta was charged with simple battery and obstruction.
  • A 45-year-old man from Dallas, Georgia, was charged with battery and felony obstruction.
  • A 28-year-old woman was charged with using vulgar language in a public place.

Sgt. Eric Mistretta said that none of the protesters came close to Greene but described their behavior as a “public safety threat.” Over 30 officers from five agencies were deployed for security.

Political Future on the Horizon?

Greene hinted that her political ambitions may go beyond Congress. Though she hasn’t made any formal moves, she has openly considered a run for either U.S. Senate or Georgia governor in 2026.

For now, she remains one of Trump’s most devoted defenders, using events like this town hall to rally support and solidify her role in his political resurgence.
