White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced that the meeting will focus on continued Western support for Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s invasion, as well as efforts to negotiate a cease-fire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas. Other topics include threats posed by Iranian-backed Houthis to commercial shipping in the Red Sea and concerns related to the Indo-Pacific region.

As Biden nears the end of his presidency, the talks highlight his commitment to strengthening alliances, especially as the international community monitors the upcoming U.S. presidential election between Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.
