Unwavering Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty

The GCC countries reaffirmed their steadfast support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, underlining the autonomy initiative as the sole solution to the conflict within the framework of Morocco’s territorial integrity. This affirmation came during a session at the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh, reinforcing the strong relations and strategic partnership established since the Morocco-GCC Summit in 2016. The foreign ministers underscored their support for relevant United Nations decisions, demonstrating a unified stance on preserving peace and security in the region.

Condemnation of Violence in Gaza

In a strong display of humanitarian advocacy, Morocco condemned the targeting of Palestinian civilians by Israeli forces in Gaza, who were awaiting humanitarian aid. This act resulted in significant casualties, sparking international outcry. Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and his role as chair of the Al-Quds Committee, called for an independent investigation into the violence and accountability for those responsible. The Kingdom’s call for international intervention to achieve a ceasefire, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and protect Palestinian lives underscores its commitment to upholding international humanitarian law.

The GCC meetings in Riyadh not only showcased the solid strategic partnerships and shared visions between the GCC countries and Morocco but also highlighted their collective voice in advocating for peace, sovereignty, and humanitarian principles on the international stage. Through initiatives like the Atlantic African Initiative and firm stances on geopolitical issues, these nations demonstrate their commitment to fostering a stable, prosperous, and just international community.
