Joe Biden and Donald Trump win Maryland Presidential Primaries

President Biden has won the Maryland Democratic presidential primary, according to Decision Desk HQ. Former President Trump has won the Maryland GOP presidential primary, according to Decision Desk HQ.  While Biden was not expected to face any stiff competition for the state, protesters angry over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war are urging Democratic primary voters to cast ballots for “uncommitted to any presidential candidate.” However, the former president is expected to face a protest vote akin to ones that have played out in other states like Arizona and Indiana, given Maryland is home to former Gov. Larry Hogan (R), a prominent Trump critic.

President Biden has won the Maryland Democratic presidential primary, according to Decision Desk HQ.  

While Biden was not expected to face any stiff competition for the state, protesters angry over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war are urging Democratic primary voters to cast ballots for “uncommitted to any presidential candidate.”

Similar votes voicing outrage over the White House’s handling of the international conflict have been seen in other states, including Michigan and Minnesota.  

Maryland has 95 delegates up for grabs on the Democratic side. It’s unlikely to play a pivotal role at the presidential level. Biden beat former President Trump in the Old Line State by 33 points in 2020.

Former President Trump has won the Maryland GOP presidential primary, according to Decision Desk HQ. 

Trump was not expected to face any stiff competition as the only last remaining major Republican candidate in the race.  

Maryland has 37 delegates up for grabs on the GOP side.

However, the former president is expected to face a protest vote akin to ones that have played out in other states like Arizona and Indiana, given Maryland is home to former Gov. Larry Hogan (R), a prominent Trump critic. 

Still, it’s unlikely to play a pivotal role at the presidential level.
