Thousands protest in the capital Cairo and all governorates after Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi urges Egyptians to take to the streets in solidarity with the Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas war as Sissi blamed Israel for the Gaza hospital blast. Scores of Egyptians in all governorates took to the streets on Friday to voice rejection of the Israeli aggression and schemes to relocate Gazans to Sinai.

Scores of Egyptians in all governorates took to the streets on Friday to voice rejection of the Israeli aggression and schemes to relocate Gazans to Sinai.

Protesters voiced support to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in taking measures to protect Egypt’s national security amid the Israeli plans to displace Palestinians to Sinai.

Egyptians protested in solidarity with the Palestinians, urging Gazans to maintain resilience in the face of Israel.

Angry protests in all Egyptian governorates chanted: “Down with Israel. No displacement or rehoming.”

The protests after the Friday prayers in this spot comes as per a call by the National Dialogue, which gathered Egyptian political forces and different segments of the society over the past year to reach a common ground on the nation’s priority issues.

In a statement on Wednesday, the dialogue’s board of trustees emphasized that the gathering of all segments of the Egyptian people on that day and at this location conveys an important message on the 50th anniversary of the 6th of October 1973 victory.

The board said the move comes in light of the dangerous developments regarding the Palestinian cause to express decisive rejection of the brutal aggression by the occupation against the resilient Palestinian brothers in Gaza and the West Bank.

The gathering is also an affirmation of the Egyptian people’s unity in the face of threats of liquidating the Palestinian cause and compromising Egypt’s national security and territorial integrity.

Israel, who has launched unrelenting airstrikes against the Gaza Strip, caused a new tragedy on Tuesday after killing hundreds in a massive blast at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital that was sheltering thousands of people when it was bombed. Sissi blamed Israel for the Gaza hospital blast, despite U.S. and Israeli theories that there are growing evidence that an errant rocket fired by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group was responsible.

The Israeli actions have triggered outrage across the world. Egypt announced a three-day period of national mourning to honor the innocent victims of the heinous attack on the hospital.

Displacement of Gazans

Since the start of the conflict early in October, Egypt has reiterated rejection of Israeli plans to forcibly displace Palestinians toward Sinai, warning that this will liquidate the Palestinian cause.

In a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz Sisi on Wednesday, Sisi stressed Egypt’s unwavering support to the Palestinian people and rejection of Israeli plans to displace Gazans to Sinai.

Sisi said millions of Egyptian people are ready to protest any plans to displace the Palestinian people from Gaza.

Sisi added that in case Israel has the notion to displace the Palestinians in Gaza until the end of military operations against the armed factions, then Israel can host them in Negev Desert.

Massive protests

Many squares, universities and streets across Egypt have seen huge protests over the past few days to reject the Israeli aggression in Sinai.

At the 6th of October City’s Hosary Square, hundreds of people organized protests to support the Palestinian people and endorse Sisi to take the required measures to protect national security.

Upper Egypt’s Qena and Sohag and northern Egypt’s Dakahlia, Alexandria and Sharqia saw protests in many streets.

The university youth, including in Cairo and Alexandria universities, organized protests to object to the displacement of Palestinians and the Israeli collective punishment policies.

Hundreds of lawyers gathered in front of their syndicate in Cairo’s downtown, carrying banners to condemn the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The Syndicate of Journalists witnessed angry protests against the Israeli crimes in Gaza, where they also called for opening the Rafah border crossing for aid delivery.

The Coalition of Egyptian Parties, which comprises 42 Egyptian parties, supported Sisi in taking the necessary measures to protect national security.

Some Egyptian actors held a demonstration to show solidarity with Palestine.
