The match between Morocco and Spain in the round of 16 of the World Cup has gone to a penalty shootout with the score 0-0.
Morocco and Spain’s World Cup last-16 clash has finished 0-0 after 120 minutes – and the game has now gone to PENALTIES.
The Atlas Lions and La Roja were tied after 120 minutes at Education City Stadium with a place in the quarterfinals on the line. That means for the second day in a row, following Croatia’s victory over Japan, a match is going to penalty kicks to determine who advances to the quarterfinals.
Luis Enrique’s had the majority of the possession but their African opponents managed to hold firm in Qatar.
Hakim Ziyech and Co had their fair share of opportunities too, however, but were unable to capitalise in the final third.
The choice of ends for the penalties is either the Morocco end, or the Morocco end with some Spain fans in there too.
Huge cheers from the Morocco fans as the final whistle goes.
