Deep Look: Curry’s MVP Performance Caps Off Special All-Star Weekend

Stephen Curry’s legendary career added another unforgettable chapter Sunday night as he won NBA All-Star Game MVP, leading Shaq’s OGs to victory in front of his home crowd at Chase Center.

From his half-court three-pointers to the loud MVP chants, the night was a true Bay Area celebration for the Golden State Warriors icon.

“This is just a special weekend all the way around,” Curry said. “It’s very symbolic of the entire journey. I hope we have a lot to accomplish on the court, but this was a great celebration of basketball in this area.”

Curry Lights Up Chase Center with Signature Shots

Curry wasted no time getting started, draining the game’s first three-pointer and later sinking a half-court shot that had the crowd roaring. He even took a moment to celebrate with rapper Mistah Fab on the sideline.

With no game clock and a first-to-40 format, Shaq’s OGs raced to an early lead and never looked back. Curry’s four three-pointers helped secure the 41-25 victory, as fans erupted in MVP chants when he lifted the trophy.

“It’s an amazing race, and obviously a lot of crazy racing out there tonight,” Curry said, referencing the new game format.

A Weekend of Reflection for Curry

Beyond the game, this All-Star weekend was deeply personal for Curry. Playing in front of his home fans, he admitted that the emotions hit him when the Canadian and U.S. national anthems played before tip-off.

During a midgame break, Curry took the mic and shared how “blessed” he felt to host the NBA’s biggest stars in his own arena.

“This weekend brought a lot of my people together,” Curry said. “I got to reflect on my journey and what this city means to me.”

As the face of the Warriors’ dynasty, Curry has spent his entire 16-year career in the Bay Area, transitioning from Oakland to San Francisco as the franchise moved from Oracle Arena to Chase Center.

Shaq’s OGs Dominate New All-Star Format

The NBA introduced a new All-Star format this year:

  • No game clock or quarters.
  • First team to 40 points wins.
  • Three teams competed in a mini-tournament, including Candace Parker’s Rising Stars.

Curry was drafted by Shaquille O’Neal, and his team delivered a dominant performance, taking an early lead and closing out Chuck’s Global Stars 41-25.

The game also featured rising stars like Anthony Edwards, whom Curry playfully kicked a ball to before warmups.

What’s Next for Curry?

As the All-Star weekend ends, Curry will take some time to rest before returning to the Warriors, where he hopes to lead them on another deep playoff run.

“I’ll definitely get away and catch up on some sleep,” Curry joked. “But everything went exactly as it should.”

With an Olympic gold medal in August, an All-Star MVP trophy, and another historic season underway, Curry’s storied career isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
