Trump Celebrates Victory at Fox Patriot Awards

President-elect Donald Trump spoke to a supportive crowd Thursday at Fox Nation’s Patriot Awards on Long Island, using the event to highlight his election victory and preview his administration’s priorities.

“I think you have seen more happen in the last two weeks than you have in the last four years,” Trump said, referring to his post-election accomplishments.

Hosted by Fox News anchor Sean Hannity, the event honored military veterans, first responders, and everyday heroes. Trump’s appearance, alongside tributes and performances, carried the tone of a campaign rally, complete with Lee Greenwood singing God Bless the USA.

Tariffs and Diplomacy

Trump discussed recent conversations with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. He highlighted his proposed 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports, aimed at addressing illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

“Justin came flying right in,” Trump joked, referencing Trudeau’s swift response to his tariff threats.

Audience members responded enthusiastically, chanting “51!” in reference to a lighthearted suggestion of Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state.

The tariffs have drawn criticism, with the Chinese Embassy warning of potential economic fallout from trade wars. Trump’s comments reflect his intent to leverage tariffs as a key tool in negotiations with foreign leaders.

Heartfelt Tributes and Political Theater

The awards celebrated individuals and organizations, including:

Widows and veterans received standing ovations, blending somber moments with Fox’s trademark political theatrics. Hannity, a close Trump ally, introduced the president-elect with a mix of humor and jabs at Democrats.

“Democrats got their ass kicked,” Hannity declared before mimicking President Biden in a comedic impersonation.

Fox News Reconciliation

Trump’s attendance underscored his evolving relationship with Fox News. The network faced criticism from Trump and his allies after settling a $787 million defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems. For a time, Fox imposed an informal ban on Trump appearances, but the network has since reembraced the former president following his GOP primary success.

“You have incredible people at Fox,” Trump said, before adding, “A couple I don’t like.”

The event signals a mending of ties between Trump and Fox, even as individual personalities like Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson navigate their own histories with the president-elect.

Public Appearances and Future Plans

The Fox Nation award marked one of Trump’s first major public appearances since winning the election. Earlier this week, he attended a memorial for three Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies.

Trump will next travel to Paris to attend the reopening ceremony for Notre Dame Cathedral, five years after the historic landmark was damaged by fire.
